Rationale for testing objectives:

I chose to use an essay question for my first question because I thought it was the best choice for that objective.  It actually leads into the second objective smoothly and transitioned well into the multiple choice questions I chose.  The third question was true/false for proofing the paper and again, my thoughts were to keep it simple, but the student thinking about what actually is in the software.
